New Mothers' Breastfeeding Group
Attending
the professionally facilitated breastfeeding group is an opportunity to learn
more about breastfeeding, and to meet and share experiences with other expectant
and new nursing mothers.
It's encouraging to find that you're not the only one who feels tired and overwhelmed
by new parenthood, who thinks she's not coping well enough, and hasn't done her
thank you notes yet. In other words, that you are a normal new mother ….
Many say that the women they met in the groups at Breastfeeding Resources became
their closest friends and support system.
Expectant mothers attend during their third trimester. New mothers come with their
babies. The group is held twice a month.
Discussion topics include the questions that many new mothers ask: -
How do I know that I have enough milk?
- My
baby eats very often - is that normal?
- Can
I spoil my baby by holding her too much?
- My
baby seems fussy: could
it
be something I ate? - When
can I expect my baby to sleep longer at night?
- What's
the best way to pump and store my breastmilk?
-
How can I keep my toddler occupied while I'm nursing the baby?
-
I'm planning to return to work - can I still breastfeed?
