About Beverley Rae

Beverley is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and Clinical Social Worker. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from the State University of New York, and a Master's degree in Social Work from Adelphi University.

Beverley's extensive experience as a breastfeeding specialist began with nursing her own five children. She has helped thousands of new mothers to breastfeed successfully since she established her private practice, Breastfeeding Resources, in Manhasset NY, in 1986.

In addition to her clinical experience, Beverley is a former adjunct professor at Adelphi University where she taught Human Sexuality in the School of Social Work. From 1992-1995 she served as editor of the Lactation Consultant Series for lactation professionals.

From 1992 - 2000 she was on the social work staff at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, most recently in the division of child and adolescent psychiatry at Schneider Children's Hospital, where she led parenting groups and provided individual and family therapy.

Professional affiliations

Beverley served as President of the Board of Directors of the International Lactation Consultant Association from 2000-2003. She is also an active member of the Long Island and New York Lactation Consultant Associations.
