Mothers’ messages to Beverley

Read what mothers say about working with Beverley. Here is a selection from the many emails she’s received.

* I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you did to keep us going on our breastfeeding journey. I remember calling you from our (very long) hospital stay and being so devastated that my delivery and now breastfeeding was just in shambles. From my first visit you gently guided and encouraged me to keep going, to press on and stay the course. With every chaotic and upsetting thing that had transpired because of pre-eclampsia and my 5 week early delivery, with your help, nursing became in my own way, a victory and separate from the rest of our experience. From the moment we saw you, Nora was on track and thriving- a tremendous relief when she was just 5 lbs to start! ~ Kaitlin

*Tommy is going to be one in September and I have almost finished weaning him. I know I could never have gotten this far with breastfeeding without your help! Thank you so much. Once the first few weeks and hurdles were over, I really did enjoy breastfeeding and am so glad I stuck with it ~ Amy

* You were the most helpful person during the first few weeks … it was difficult at first. You were right; breastfeeding is now very enjoyable. I’m glad I didn’t give up ~ Ann

* I wanted to tell you some amazing news. I started to try to nurse Matthew without the nipple shield, and without much struggle he latched on!! Matthew has now become a pro at latching and nursing without a shield or any difficulty! We just went for his 2 month doctor’s visit and he now weighs 10.9 ounces and is 23.5 inches long, up 2 lbs and 2 inches in just 1 month! I can’t thank you enough for all of your help! ~ Melisande

* I thank you from my heart. I will never forget you, and the calming atmosphere in your office ~ Hilma

* I do not know how I would have breastfed my son without your help, and the support from the mothers in the group. I want you to know how special you are. I felt like giving up many times. But I am still nursing and he just turned eight months ~ Mary

* I was truly impressed by your caring attitude and your willingness to explain things to me in a way no one else ever did. Nursing seems to be progressing better now simply because I’m not as anxious about it ~ Lisa

* I just want to say thank you for helping me. I am now happily breastfeeding at 3 months, which is better than I expected! I never thought my supply would come in but simply being patient and not stressing has been very helpful. Thanks for reassuring me and giving me faith that I could do it! ~ Sasha

  • I think you will get a kick out of this picture. I struggled in the beginning to feed this little guy, and without your help I probably would have given up. I had to have this onesie made for him! We are just over 9 months into breastfeeding and he couldn’t have any more rolls!  ~ Andrea & Luca

* Thank you for all the support and guidance you’ve given me. No matter how many times I called with questions, you were always helpful and a pleasure to speak with ~ Michele

* I have to thank you so so much – your advice was game changing.  I’m still exclusively breastfeeding, and Jai Singh is super happy and healthy and we are doing great. Your advice to put him on the floor …. was amazing.  He is a floor baby!! He spends most of his awake time on the floor, rolling around and babbling happily.  I hear your voice in my head so often … when I’m trying to rest “just try to lie down for 10 mins … anyone can lie down for 10 mins” and that takes the pressure off, and I’ll wake 30 mins later refreshed.  “Respect the baby, go to him when he cries, allow him to be part of the family routine” – you have given me so much more than just breastfeeding advice.  I’m also enjoying every moment.  Even the tough nights, or the stressful car ride. I know now that it won’t be forever. Yesterday, my 5 year old was reading a book out loud, and I was nursing Jai by a big window.  The sun was streaming in on us, and I felt so happy and peaceful and grateful.  I think you have given me more useful, practical, life changing help than any OB ever has (by a LOT), and I wanted you to know that.  And I wanted to thank you again – you have helped me become the mother I am ~ Tajinder

* The group was like a holding place, a home base. You gave us unconditional support. You listened to the same questions and worries over and over, and yet we never felt like we were a bother. I have great friends I met in the group, friends for life ~ Kelly

* Nursing has been a wonderful and rewarding experience. Thank you for all your support. Without it, I’m not sure I would have made it a whole year – while working for most of that time ~ Gina

* I could never express in words how much you have given me – not only help, but guidance, inspiration and a terrific role model for my mothering task ~ Linda

* Just a little hello to let you know that K. is doing great. She’s almost 10 months and still loves nursing. You were truly an unbelievable support and resource for me. Thank you!  ~Jessica

* Jonathan is nursing beautifully, he’s thriving and gaining weight. I owe you an enormous debt of gratitude. My pediatrician was very impressed with the data you copied for me, and your efforts provided me with the opportunity to experience motherhood in a very precious way ~ Karen

* Breastfeeding my son was one of the most special times of my life – thank you for all your help ~ Kerry
